Need a Responsible Pet Sitter?

Afraid to leave for a vacation or even for work and wonder who's watching your pet?

The "Who's watching your Pet?" video on the Pet Sitters International Web site had me laughing. But when it comes to the care and treatment of your pets, finding a responsible pet sitter is no laughing matter. After all, you want to come home to find a happy and healthy pet.

Pet Sitters International is the most highly recognized advocate for and the most respected authority on pet sitters throughout the world. If you don't already have a responsible family member or pet sitter whom you can completely trust with your pets while you're away from home, here's a good source you can look to to start to find a responsible, insured, and bonded pet sitter in your area.

Click the title link and watch the video on the Pet Sitters International site. Laugh there so you won't cry later with the wrong choice of a "pet sitter."

How to Brush Your Dog's Teeth

The number one problem seen in dogs by veterinarians is dental disease.

Your dog's teeth need to be kept clean, for dental hygiene, to prevent "dog breath," to prevent organ dysfunction, and to prevent a shortened lifespan.

Click on the title and watch a great short video on how to brush your dog's teeth, from dog trainer Mike D'Abruzzo and the lovely Tallulah.

Many of our customers and friends have asked where we get our recipes for our dogs' meals and doggie treats. Some we've created ourselves and have posted the recipes on our blog and our The Pet Guardian, LLC Facebook page, but here's THE best dog biscuit cookbook you'll want to add to your library of cookbooks and one cookbook that you will actually use again and again: The Organic Dog Biscuit Cookbook by Bubba Rose Biscuit Company.

When we first purchased our copy of this organic dog biscuit cookbook filled with "over 100 'tail wagging' recipes," we spent two hours reading not only the recipes, but all the great nutritional tips provided with each. So not only will you be able to prepare delicious organic, wholesome treats for your pampered pup, you'll learn why the ingredients are so good for him.

Virtually all the ingredients to stock your refrigerator and pantry can be found at King Soopers, Kroger, and/or natural food stores like Whole Foods. We recommend you grab your Post-it notes because you won't know which dog treat you'll want to prepare first!

While this cookbook mostly uses organic ingredients, of course you can use regular eggs, or use pureed carrots or celery, etc., that you can purchase in the baby food aisle. By keeping it simple, you'll enjoy baking more often, which is really the point: serving the best all-natural homemade treats you can for your best buddy!

Don't want to spend the time cutting out treats with a dog bone cookie cutter? Spoon the mix into a baking pan and bake as if baking a pan of brownies. Cut the treats into small squares when the pan has cooled. Trust me: your dog doesn't care about the presentation.

It is really so simple and easy to bake nutritiously for your dog. The Organic Dog Biscuit Cookbook by Bubba Rose Biscuit Company leaves you no excuse not to be able to do so.

Idiot Vet's Office in Olathe, Kansas Loving ProHeart 6

To the idiot vet's office in Olathe, Kansas, that thinks they can speak for the *reported* 5,500 dogs who were affected and the *reported* 500+ dogs who died from ProHeart 6 when it was first on the market in full force and won't allow for comments to be posted to their article:

Unless these idiots were in all the thousands of homes of all the pet guardians whose dogs were affected and/or died from ProHeart 6 to "other disease processes," they need to shut their pie hole. I know they weren't in my household!

Here's a quick summary of what happened in my home:

1. One dog, ~ 4 years old; healthy; nothing but ProHeart 6 shot given. Dead in less than two months from immune mediated hemolytic anemia.

2. One dog, 2 years old; healthy; nothing but ProHeart 6 shot given. Survived with a compromised immune system and on medication for life.

3. One dog, ~ 11 years old; healthy; ProHeart 6 shot given in conjunction with vaccines (vaccines were supposed to be "safe" when given in conjunction with ProHeart 6). Dead in less than four months.

What the idiot vet in Colorado never mentioned to me in the first place was that senior dogs don't need any vaccines or any of this CRAP!

Buyer beware as it appears the poison will be back on the market in full force soon. If you need heartworm "prevention" for your dogs, stick with the oral methods that have been on the market for over 20 years. At least if your dog has an adverse reaction, the drug will be out of the dog's system in a matter of days.

Once the ProHeart 6 shot has been given, it permeates all the body's organs in 24 hours. The chemicals are there to STAY.

This is NOTHING BUT A MONEY-MAKER FOR THE MANUFACTURER AND THE VETS. See our previous note about if you need reminders giving your dogs their medications or heartworm "preventatives." The manufacturer of ProHeart 6 will be preying on your inability to remember to give your dogs their heartworm "prevention."
